““My gelding Jack suffered a soft tissue tear injury back in 2021 and recovery took a long time. I prefer using herbs and natural remedies when I can so when Savannah recommended the joint supplement to me I wanted to give it a shot. Within the first week I noticed a difference, his movements were fluid and he even threw a few excitement bucks with me when I rode him which is uncharacteristic for him! He’s been completely sound since thanks to Energy Work, corrective shoeing, and this joint supplement. I’m so thankful to have my heart horse back to work and finding a supplement I see immediate results with without any toxic additives! Thank you for helping keep my horse sound naturally 🫶🏻so so thankful.” – Olivia (California)

“I was looking at old videos of Sierra. I cannot get over how much she has changed since being on this new diet. I forgot how awful it was to try and catch Sierra in the pasture. I have videos of her trying to kick me, run away, and charge at me. Even on the cross ties she would try to bite me, kick me, dancing all over, and fling her head. Even old riding videos, as you know, she would buck and rear. Lunging was a nightmare because she would rip away from me and sometimes my fingers would break. I ALWAYS had to have a chain over her nose. Trying to get on the trailer would take 2-3 hours unless gates were used to force her on. Every show she would manage to run away and go crazy. 3 years on this diet and she is 100% different. It is so crazy! I can catch her easily in the pasture, she is a sweeter horse, enjoyable to ride and compete on, she is the first one on the trailer, she will walk right on with NO hesitations, and she is not trying to break away at any shows. She actually doesn’t care too much when her friend leaves her side. I still cannot thank you enough! I forgot to tell you, but Sierra is 100% my horse now, I have her in my name. If we never met you and stuck to this diet, I do not know what would’ve happened. You are a lifesaver ❤️ I am sure people get sick of me talking about you and your diet, but I cannot help it haha! I want everyone to know and do it. “ – Ellie (New York)

First time riding Destiny since we’ve started her on Chelsea Blackford; Essential Equine Therapies’s Sis’s Gut Support! The last time I rode Destiny was when I took her to a race. The old reliable horse, who never did anything wrong, “bucked” about 15 times. I say “bucked” in quotes because they were nothing big. But, for Destiny, that was a huge deal. I realized that the cause had maybe been due to ulcers. She has since stopped showing any other symptoms and I think today confirmed that she is back to her normal self! We are continuing to give her Sis’s Gut Support twice a week. So very happy that she is feeling good again! Since she turns 25 in May, I’ve decided that I’ll no longer race her. But she is still happy to carry a person on her back so she will still occasionally be ridden! – Savannah (Tennessee)

I haven’t even shared this with Chelsea yet lol so I just had to share it with everyone! If anyone is looking for a joint supplement, I cannot recommend Chelsea Blackford; Essential Equine Therapies enough. When we bought Hershey, he was 6 years old and we already knew that he had arthritis in his front legs. He would have his good days and his bad days. He is now almost 22 years old. I basically accepted the fact that he would have a limp for the rest of his life. When you speak with her, you learn about a lot! She actually informed me of how arthritis can begin and how it can be corrected. But this old man has had it for so long. So, about 3 months ago, I decided to just give Chelsea’s joint supplement a try. She uses natural herbs for her products. About a week into using it, kid you not, his limp disappeared. He has been sound for nearly 3 months now. I can’t even describe the amount of happiness that this has brought me. Before, while all of the others horses would run to the far end of the field, he would stand at the top and sometimes call for them. I felt awful. Now, he runs, bucks, and he isn’t left behind. I feel like I finally have my playful boy back. I have learned so much from you already and just love hearing about how you’ve gotten to where you are. I am so extremely thankful that I met you at that barrel race nearly 2 years ago! ❤️ – Savannah (Tennessee)

We had Chelsea out to work on 2 of our horses – she was extremely timely and happy to educate us and answer any and all questions we had. The most important thing though was the transformation in them, during the massages I saw them becoming extremely relaxed and calm. One of our horses is a rescue and really struggled to get her feet done by our farrier due to stiff muscles – with Chelsea’s help our farrier was able to do her feet faster than ever before (and with our horse feeling MUCH less pain than before). Our other horse was having issues under saddle preventing his young teen from riding. We’re a couple weeks post-massage and they’ve been able to start jumping and cantering – he is clearly happier. The differences have been night and day, and I can’t thank Chelsea enough for coming out to help them and being willing to share her vast supply of knowledge with us. She truly cares for each horse she works on and wants to help them live their happiest healthiest life. Can’t wait to have you out again Chelsea! Thank you!! – Cassidy (Tennessee)

I’ve followed Chelsea for a long time and finally had the chance to have her massage my horse. Watching my horse visibly enjoying (yawns) her massage was worth it. Chelsea is very in tune with the horse and can teach us so much about things to do between massages to help in the midterm too. I love my conversations with Chelsea, I learn something new every time. I know Bonnie is looking forward to her next massage! – Diana (Indiana)

I was very impressed with Chelsea’s ability to connect with the horse and get the maximum benefit from her massage.  I can’t wait to see how much better Bonnie travels.  Bonnie is a happy calm minded mare owned by Diana. – Jayne (Indiana)

Wow what an amazing experience with Chelsea! I can’t even explain how helpful she was for our pony! We saw a completely different pony when she left the barn! I loved her energy and her excitement with ever touch! We loved her and will continue to use her monthly! – Amanda (Tennessee)

Chelsea goes above and beyond to help you with your herbal and oily needs for your horses !!! She’s knowledgeable and honest !!! – Lori (Illinois)

My mom and I have been using Chelsea’s herb testing for about 3 years now. My mom’s Arab gelding was prone to colic and had ulcers. We were going thru a 25lb bucket of Neighlox every 6 months. Out of curiosity we decided to try her recommendations in Sis’s story. We tested all of our horses, got the blends she recommended, did all the steps she told us to; to our surprise it worked on all 3!! Mom’s 30 year gelding had the hardest time and we had to tweak his feed regimen a little but he’s sleek, shiny, and looks so amazing now. Mom’s Arab has not had colic since nor has he had anymore Neighlox. My buckskin gelding has shed out every year with new brighter markings, this year he has dun markings and colorings I find fascinating! We’ve been using Chelsea’s new line for a couple of months now and love the simplicity of it!! Everyone gets the same, everyone LOVES it, and we don’t have to make up individual containers anymore. I have purchased a new mare that I plan on putting on it to help her settle in. – Sherri (Texas)

I am a horse trainer and I just started using essential oils, my friend directed me to this page… I applied some of the knowledge I gained from reading the posts here and when I used an oil called valor ( they called it liquid chiropractor) on my old man horse’s sacral joint his WHOLE BODY relaxed his penis dropped he was sighing and licking and chewing…  🎉🦄❤  I am so incredibly excited to learn more! These oils WORK! – Natalie (California)

Chelsea is a treasure chest full of wisdom and knowledge mixed with lots of passion. She gives her all to help out human and animal alike. She gets to the root cause of issues and doesn’t leave anything in the dark. Highly recommend. – Amelia (Tennessee)

I’ve done two rounds of the deworming herbal blend on my horses. I have seen such a difference in behavior in my adopted horse. When I adopted him he acted like he was never fed and fought for food, he also had the worst bloated belly. He still acts like he’s going to fight my older gelding at feeding time but he never does, he always backs off. Before he would’ve plowed over him. I’ve also transitioned them to a straight hay and hay pellets diet. Their coat is thicker and bloating is almost gone. And my senior gelding hasn’t lost too much weight, which I was afraid of. He is a healthy weight. I’ve also had my older gelding on the joint herbal blend and have noticed a huge reduction in the amount of creaking noises when he moves around. Thank you Chelsea for sharing your wonderful secret! 🥰🥰❤️❤️ – Kayla  (Texas)

Chelsea came out and gave my TB a raindrop massage with essential oils and hot towels. She was able to pinpoint problems in both my horses, including back/sacrum pain in my TB, and some hind end issues in my QH. She was so helpful, friendly and professional! I look forward to trying the herbs in both of my horse’s diets, as well as chia seeds and cabbage.  She was able to accurately describe digestive issues, and made some farrier recommendations I am looking forward to following up on! 1/13/19 – ” Let me just go ahead and say huge shout out to this girl right here! She is just as dedicated and crazy as I am to go hang out at a barrel race in cookeville with freezing rain. She made a huge difference in Cajun in just a day! Thursday I took him to Winchester and he just wasnt right. He was heavy in my hands running to the first and wasnt setting up for the turn properly. Friday after my farrier visited Chelsea just happened to be able to come out and have a girls night with pony spoiling lol. I could see each time he release and she is an absolute wealth of knowledge in her field. She worked hard on him for her sports massage (this also includes helping with saddle fit evaluation and nutrition analysis) Yesterday I loaded up for Cookeville barrel race and decided to take two exhibitions to let Cajun feel that he wasnt bound up. He went in hunting the barrel and was 100% softer. Chels came up for support and to get her name out. Goodness it was great to have her around haha! She wanted to get him released one last time after he warmed up before his competition run and all I have to say is holy snap.

First video is Winchester
Second video is 1st exhibition a 17.5
Third video is the 2nd exhibition a 17.1
Fourth/Fifth video is his run that he knocked out a 16.5 just different angles

Mind you he hasnt been in this arena in a year! We tipped second just because he turned too hard and rider didnt put him just right but whew he worked! Cannot thank and suggest contacting this lady enough! Not only that but she has quickly become a best friend like we have known each other our entire lives and not just a handful of months.” – Kelsi (Hillsboro, TN)

She has helped me in so many ways from messaging therapy to herbal diets.” – Brittany (Milton, GA)

12/27/18 – “I contacted Chelsea Blackford a few months ago via Instagram about a saddle fit question. We chatted and she walked me through the process of evaluating the fit. Weeks went by and we both reached out again, I now had some questions regarding diet and what would be more suitable for my horse. Chelsea analyzed my mares food and than decided there needed to be a change. She helped me throughout the whole herbal testing process and than we narrowed it down to my horse’s needs. After having my horse on the all herbal diet for a few months, I have noticed so many positive changes! Our barn even had Chelsea down for a clinic this past September. She was very helpful and professional. It was a great learning experience. While down at our barn, she massaged my horse. It was so cool to watch and my horse loved it! I definitely recommend Chelsea for your horse! Can’t wait to have her back!” – Nicole (Mt. Sterling, IL)

3/5/18 – “My Standardbred gelding Ari has had many injuries and little quirks about him that haven’t been able to figure out. Chelsea offered to give him a massage over the weekend at the Illinois Horse Fair and I’m so glad she did. She had my horse yawning, sighing, licking and chewing with in a short amount of time. She not only made Ari feel amazing, but was able to help me identify pain points and gave me steps to help him. She helped me determine that my saddle is not the best fit for him and didn’t just leave it at that. She sent me videos and other links to help me find a properly fitted saddle. She also educated me on essential oils and natural herbs for horses. She told me about the importance of a horses diet and how it effects so much of the horses life. Chelsea is an extremely educated, caring and talented person. My horse had only one session with her, but I could tell she cares so much about each and every person and horse she helps. I highly recommend Essential Equine Therapies for your horse.” – Emma (WI)

8/7/17 – “We called Essential Equine Therapies when we were having a problem with one of our gelding at the Illinois State Jr Show. She was able to be there soon after we called and she made our boy feel so good that we had her come back to work on our other gelding! Some of my friends were there and after they saw how good she was they of course had to have her work on their horses. We had such a good experience!! I am definitely going to Essential Equine Therapies for anything else I need!!” -Corrin (MO)

I want to introduce you all to Emma and her horse, Ari. They live in Wisconsin!

I first met these two at the Illinois horse fair this March 2018.
Ari was used in a chiropractic demonstration and I could clearly see his discomfort. To top it off, his adjustment was anything but gentle. The little voice inside told met to go meet this girl and so I did, along with offering to massage Ari while they were there.

He did beautifully with his massage and according to Emma walked off better than he ever had before. She was so open to everything that I suggested to her. From saddle fit to diet, we talked about it all. Instead of brushing it off, she made the changes she needed to. She had started herbs with Ari, but through a company that was more expensive and didn’t have as many options. So she made that change, also got a new farrier to balance Ari correctly and is getting a saddle that fits him better.

Ari has been on stall rest now for a few months and has a few more to go. He had a previous pelvis injury that had been stressed and required him to rest. I remember discussing with Emma how his behavior had been previously when on stall rest and her concerns going into this next chapter. Since changing his diet, cutting sugars, and giving him the herbs he needed…he’s been a completely different horse!

Here’s part of the text I received, which I have permission to share with all of you!

JULY 12, 2018 “Hey Chelsea! I just wanted to let you know that Ari is doing amazing on the herbs! He is on no bute and is off the Tumerick. He had a check up later this month and then one more in August before we leave for college. The new barn is the perfect situation to start rehab. Thank you for everything you have done for him and I! It has really helped a ton!”

UPDATE: AUGUST 7, 2018

“Hey Chelsea!! Great news for Ari! He can start rehab slowly!! Five minutes of walking a day for two weeks. Every two weeks I can increase by five to minutes. My vet is extremely impressed with how he’s healing and she says it’s due to his diet!!”

Way to go Emma, and way to go Ari!
I’m so glad I met these two from out of state and am looking forward to making a trip to see them sometime!

April 2019: Ari is currently on a 30 day rehabilitation program that I have written specifically for him as he is now past his recovery stage and is ready to start strengthening and building muscle. Yes, I can do this from states away!

Meet Lois, and her horse Adiago (Gio)

Lois reached out to me at the beginning of  2018 in regards to the hooves of her horse, which seemed to be sensitive on stones or gravel, even though her horse had been barefoot and allowed to toughen up in the hooves.

She sent me photographs of the hooves, which one of my recommended barefoot trimmers took a look at and did write ups on with suggested changes to the trims. Lois was then able to take these photos to her farrier to make the adjustments. . Lois has been giving me updates on the progress and changes she has noticed. In her words, here are some of the changes she has noticed.

“One thing that is definitely different is you know how some horses have super soft hair and some are more course? Hers was always a little course, as she has shed out this spring her coat is super soft. The small crack she has had for 18 months looks like it’s growing in solid at the top of the hoof.”

I’m so excited for these two and love seeing the updates of their shows and how much they’re enjoying competing together!

Meet Sara and her horse, Cocoa.

In her words 7/16/18

“At 9:30 p.m. it’s all about meal preparations around here; just not for the people, but for my horse, Cocoa. I started letting Cocoa pick herbs and have had amazing results because of it. Trying to control her weight has been huge and with herbs, I have noticed a big difference in the lessening of “fat pockets” she had acquired. I also had phenomenal results with the herbs for parasite control. Then, with her friend, Sissy, having problems this spring with her tummy, Cocoa now eats some herbs that have a healing effect on the tummy lining. What’s great is that they won’t hurt her or cause her to store toxins which lead to other problems.”

Cocoa receives her massages, daily herbs, regular riding and enjoys water that is filtered to keep the high iron out of it. She’s doing so much better since making these changes in her life!

As promised, more sarcoid before and afters!

I started working with Sophia and her horse, Cheyenne after she found me on Instagram. This all happened in July of 2018 and by September I was down there in Georgia for a Massage Clinic at her barn.

Even before I arrived, Sophia started implementing diet changes with her horse and herbal tested her with the kit.

I saw Cheyenne’s ear in person and also in photo form.
After going through this with my horse I was able to give her some essential oil concoctions as well as revamping Cheyenne’s diet to boost her immune system and detox.

Here’s the sarcoid now, almost a year later! Basically non-existant.

I’m so proud of Sophia for how hard she has worked to give Cheyenne what she needs and to be open to new things. Because of her, others at her barn have taught out healthier options for their horses.

This continues to show each one of us how important it is for horses to have a healthy diet. What we are taught is a healthy diet usually isn’t a healthy diet at all. We need to stop and think about what we are doing. I used to spout off information because it was what I was taught, but that didn’t mean it was true.
